Dear Reader,

What do you buy your husband for his 60th birthday? I bought mine 10 water skiing lessons! What do you have to buy next? Of course, a boat! Now, I was afraid of the sea and even more afraid of going on a boat!

Anyhow, soon after my husband was totally hooked on water skiing my father passed away and left me a couple of thousand pounds. I was passing Miltis Boatyard and decided to call in just to look. I will never forget that day! I explained to Miltis that Mick, my husband, loved his skiing but I was just so afraid of the sea and boats that I could never go out on a boat and anyhow could never afford to buy one. Miltis put me at my ease and talked to me at great length about being so afraid and that he would take me out the next day with my husband just to prove there was nothing to be afraid of.

Miltis made me feel so at ease and relaxed it even crossed my mind that maybe, just maybe I could go out on a boat one day. Miltis showed me some boats and we talked about costs etc. Anyhow, I went home and told my husband where I had been and that maybe we could use my small inheritance to buy a boat so he could ski as often as he liked whilst we were here in Cyprus for the holidays. I told him that Milis was going to take us both out on a boat the next day. I was thinking I might just let my husband go by himself!

Another day I shall never forget! I was terrified! Miltis exuded confidence and enthusiasm and you could feel and see he was absolutely at home and happy to be in the driving seat, driving the boat at full speed across the Mediterranean waves! Me, I think I just closed my eyes and prayed holding the side rail as tight as I could. "Now your turn to drive" he said to me! Me! You must be joking! But I did! Well to cut a long story short, we did buy a boat and now we have had it for 5 years. We both learnt to drive and I learnt to tow a skier. We passed both our RYA and Cypriot driving tests and absolutely love being on the water in "Peter Pan" our boat. Now our daughter and 11 year old grandson both ski and love coming for their holidays to spend time out on the sea in "Peter Pan".
